Also known as Seven Soldiers Of Kung-fu and 108 Heroes, this sequel to the martial arts blockbuster The Water Margin is considered by many kung-fu cultists as even more action-packed than the original. Based on one of China’s enduring epic novels, written in the 14th century, All Men Are Brothers continues the patriotic story of righteous warriors battling despotic leaders, featuring mythic characters familiar to every Chinese, and with a cast that has achieved an equally celebrated status among Shaw Brothers devotees: Ti Lung, David Chiang, Chen Kuan-tai, and Danny Lee. A hard-edged feminine touch is provided by Lily Ho and Betty Chung Ling-ling. The behind-the-camera line-up is also of mythic proportions, with direction by Chang Cheh and no less than four martial arts choreographers, including Liu Chia-liang and brother Liu Chia-yung.

When Ti Lung left Shaw Brothers, he dropped his stereotyped "lone swordsman" persona from the past six years and has since ventured into films with social themes. In his directorial debut, Young Lovers On Flying Wheels, Ti Lung replaces the "sword" with a motorcycle and then chooses the girl and happiness instead of dueling and a lonesome existence.

He had already directed many successful films when he joined Shaw Brothers in 1965. It was there that he directed his first major martial arts movie, but this was one of his last for the studio. It was also one of the last times he teamed with superstar swordswoman Cheng Pei-pei (who is even more famous now for her role in CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON). Here she stars as Yen Lai, the one woman who can reunite the Kao brothers to rid the Teng Lung Manor of attacking killers as well as take revenge for the murder of their father. One of Shaw Brothers’ most sweeping epics, comparable to Dr. Zhivago for the scope of its intensely personal love story. Set in war-torn China, it tells of a married couple who find the obstacles of the warfront are, in many ways, easier than those on the homefront.
