Applauded director Li Han-Hsiang was one of few directors that made soft porn acceptable by mainstream audiences; using the thematic device of "sex on a mission" cynicism, suggesting that sex was the ultimate power. In the sex comedy The Scandalous Warlord, the true power that drove the country's many warlords were the prostitutes that these men would routinely visit. Therefore, the power in this film lies in the hands of the sassy Shirley Yu and the titillating Shaw Yin-Yin.

After making such successful thrillers as THE CRIMINALS 2 - HOMICIDES, such well-received action films as BIG BROTHER CHENG, and such popular comedies as MR. FUNNY - BONE, director Kuei Chih-hung put his first "hex" on the audience. This serie, frightening, supernatural mystery thriller was so effective, it led to HEX VERSUS WITCHCRAFT and HEX AFTER HEX. But this was the original, starring the lovely Tanny Tien Ni in a challenging role of a wronged, bed-ridden wife who is at the mercy of her evil husband... and so much more. What starts as an Asian variation of the classic Fench suspense film DIABOLIQUE becomes an exercise in fervid and frightening Hong Kong horror as one ghost after another appears to wreak havoc, insanity, and death.

Director Taylor Wong gathers a great cast for this politically charged romantic thriller. Dodo Cheng is a conscience-stricken lawyer defending a rapist. Renowned leading man Alex Man Chi-leung is her cop boyfriend. The glorious Joey Wang Jo-yin, the beautiful star of A Chinese Ghost Story, plays the villain's first victim. It's all capped off by the surprise guest appearance of the majestic Shaw Studio perennial, Ti Lung, as the man brought in to make sure that justice is done. Lawyer Yip Wing-man (Dodo Cheng) and Senior Inspector Fong Wai (Alex Man Chi-leung) are a pair of steady lovers who often clash officially. Good-looking photographer Dick-man Tien (Wilson Lam Chun-yin) appears in Court for raping model Joey Ling (Joey Wang Jo-yin), but is acquitted through the artful defence of lawyer Yip. Knowing Tien is guilty, Fong sympathizes with Joey and rather despises his girlfriend for her lack of justice. Joey's sister Ling Shan-shan (Prudence Liew), a delinquent, has a chance meeting with Tien in a bar. Seized by a mad desire to avenge her sister, she puts LSD into his drink, but ends up being caught and raped by him as well. Tien appears in Court again and Wing-man acts as his defence counsel in spite of Fong's objections. Shan-shan's past misbehaviour coupled with Wing-man's crafty defence puts her in a rather unfavourable position. As the chance of testifying against Tien is getting slim, the Prosecutor seeks the help of his brother John Lung (Ti Lung) to take up the case. The case takes a dramatic twist, as the relationship of the two lovers is put to the test.

Like many of the swordsman films of the sixties, The Magnificent Swordsman centers on the hero vowing vengeance against evil bandits that killed his family when he was a child. Influenced by Akira Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai, the hero (played by Huang Tsung-shun who starred in Bruce Lee's Fist Of Fury), recruits several friends to help peasants rid their village of marauding bandits, the leader of course being the man that killed his family.

When super director Chang Cheh found new talent and blood with "The Five Venoms" actors, most of which were trained in the highly acrobatic Chinese opera and well versed with exotic martial arts weapons, this created a new spark for his use of bizarre weapons in his films. The Flag Of Iron is one of 20 movies that he directed featuring the utterly flabbergasting and physically exhausting action bits created by these five dudes. You have the good guys from the righteous clan versus the bad guys from the villainous clan and it's so filled with "don't-blink-or-you-will-miss-something" gags, you will need to watch it over and over again so you can see the things you missed.
