The Emperor is actually all for reforms, and appoints this group to run the country. This doesn’t suit the Empress Dowager though, as she has no intention of losing her power. It's a fact: the greatest martial arts movie character is Huang Fei-hung. But it's quite possible the second greatest character is "Beggar Su", one of the famous Ten Kwangtung Tigers, and a legendary Ching Dynasty figure. Little known director Liu Shih-yu decided to fill his telling of the character's life story with the best kung-fu actors Shaw Studios had to offer. He reunited the stars of Liu Chia-liang's landmark Dirty Ho -- Gordon Liu Chia-hui, Wang Yu, and Wang Lung-wei--added such other greats as multi-award-winning Ku Feng and Pai Piao, then gave workhorse Lo Chiang his shot as choreographer. Together they made a rare, colorful, action-packed adventure as Beggar Su and his brother train incessantly to defeat the brutally powerful thief called Centipede. Finally, after much death and destruction, Gordon Liu Chia-hui and Wang Lung-wei get a memorable rematch to follow their classic masterpieces in Dirty Ho and Martial Club. The result is not only reminiscent of preeminent director Liu Chia-liang's work, but essentially an homage to him as well!

Director Sun Chung was the first Shaw Brothers' director to use the Steadicam and in the mid-70s was one of the most productive directors Shaw Brothers ever had. His action films had strong tension, snappy editing and slow motion, the things that influenced up and coming martial arts director John Woo. Sun Chung joins forces with kung-fu comedienne Wang Yu, a ballistic kid on a mission to clear his father's name, in THE KID WITH A TATTOO which also features plentiful ripsnorting martial arts at the hands of Liu Chia-liang's 10-year, exceptionally creative, choreographer partner Tang Chia. Jackie Chan's long time kung-fu classmates Yuen Hua and Yuan Pin along with best martial arts fighting villain Wang Lung-wei, add wickedly wild altercations to the melees of death.

This top ten box office hit reunites the star duo from COME DRINK WITH ME in another classic tale of action and intrigue. Cheng Pei-pei (a quarter-century before gaining Hollywood fame as the villainess of CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON) radiates grace and beauty while wielding the deadly "shadow whip." The weapon is almost as major a character as Cheng, implicated as it is in multiple murders, a major heist, and an enigmatic mystery that sets in motion a pursuit by both good and evil knights. Cheng finds herself in the eye of the storm, and whether single-handedly fighting sixteen bandits or avenging her father's brutal end, she demonstrates why she was Hong Kong cinema's number one swordswoman - - and no slouch when it came to the whip!
